Every so often the *$&#! Hudson County TIS station (which is just playing a tape saying their TIS is broken, gee, thanks guys) fades out, and I can hear music. Too weak to ID any of the songs.

It's more of a pest here, unfortunately. It comes in almost all the time at night, and even sometimes in the daytime. It's ruined 1710 for any pirates. 1720 is clear, but I don't know if any ops are using it?

I'm far enough south I can null the Hudson County TIS out easily. The SS religious pirate in LA. dominates the band here. I can occasionally catch the music pirate Refmo has been hearing, but it's tough when that SS pirate has good props behind it. A very narrow heading on that music op with and without a loop.

I've been hearing another TIS to the WNW. I think it's the one that has been mentioned coming from the Chicago area over the years? It and the SS preacher play Hell with the music op.

Funny thing about the Hudson County TIS, the Springfield MA. TIS is on the same heading and nearly always held the frequency from that direction, with HC TIS riding up over it occasionally. For the past year it's been nothing but the Hudson County one. I wonder if the Springfield TIS is off air?

Pigmeat....the answer is yes on the Springfield Armory TIS. I hear it 24/7/365 here, as I am located about 3 miles from the transmitter. Even during the daytime hours, it's S8....at certain times of the day it peaks at S9 +20! I wish it would shut down periodically to let me hear what else is on 1710.
QSL's to poorbrookking >at< aol.com are greatly appreciated! All reception and postings using My radio, My antenna, and generally in real time(excluding posting of SSTV images!).
