Hah!  While I agree that the whole subject causes swirling debates, I always considered the people who claimed to have heard her broadcasting for help in the same basket as people who claim to have seen Bigfoot or a UFO; I mean, why would they ALL lie....they know they will more than likely be ridiculed for making their claim so why do it!?  10 minutes of fame?  Maybe.  But I for one have always been somewhat captivated by the AE story.

I've always been certain that Earhart survived  for at least 7 to 10 days and the signals heard in the following week were in fact  from her and Fred Noonan.

Very interesting reading of the analysis of tidal levels, radio propagation/time of day, and other factors. Thanks for posting.

Very interesting reading indeed.

I am not a die hard follower of the Amelia Earhart mysters but I do find stories such as this interesting.

Another interesting story line can found here:

https://earhartsearchpng.com/earhart-lockheed-electra-search-project/  part 1

https://earhartsearchpng.com/earhart-lockheed-electra-search-project-4/  tangible evidence

https://earhartsearchpng.com/earhart-lockheed-electra-search-project-5/  analysis

read all parts if you have an interest but in any case, the evidence noted on the above posted web pages paints a very different picture than that from the "analysis of hf transmissions" story line and here are other theories as well.

Which is correct? neither perhaps. I don't know but makes for interesting reading.

Very interesting story, to be sure. I'm no firm believer in the TIGHAR hypothesis that Earhart crash-landed and later perished on Gardner Island/Nikumaroro, a remote South Pacific atoll. But I do find the idea intriguing. I first heard about "Betty's notebook" about five years ago and trying to understand how a young schoolgirl in Florida could hear radio transmissions from a remote island in the Pacific gave me my first lesson in propagation.

I wonder if the IJN and IJA archives have any word on downing a spyplane during the time in question.
