Welcome FM Free Radio Enthusiasts!
« on: April 01, 2011, 2109 UTC »
HFU, the premier site for all things radio, now has a board for posting items of interest to Free Radio enthusiasts who frequent the FM bands. We had noticed that there was a glaring lack of a place like this for FM pirates and others who are interested in this topic, so, as is always the case, HFU has moved to fill this gap as a service to the entire radio community.

Welcome, and we hope that you will join us in sharing the HFU love!

Can I put in a plug for Radio Brandy?  I hope so, I'm putting in a plug for Radio Brandy.  All I know about LPFM is I managed to burn up the FM kits I tried back in the 1990s.  If I was to try again I'd start with someone who seems to know what he's talking about.  That'd be Steve and these folks: http://www.radiobrandy.com/
That li'l ol' DXer from Texas
Unpleasant Frequencies Crew
Al: Palstar R30C & various antennae
Snoopy: Sony ICF-2010
Roger: Magnavox D2935

Nifty CZH050 transmitter on eBay
There is a little nifty 0.5 watt xmtr for local pir8ting on eBay - look for the "CZH-05A" model or "CZH-05B" unit(s) and also, search Google for these model numbers, and you will get to the links/seller.

The prices are not too bad, considering just a few years ago quality, pre-built units were much scarcer.

Also check out "Broadcast Warehouse" in the UK...

Happy FMing!

PS - build a "J" antenna - works a few dB better than a 1/4 wave groundplane...
