Taupo Marine Radio ZLM 6224 USB 0545 UTC 18 Sept 2018
« on: September 18, 2018, 1659 UTC »

ZLM, operated by New Zealandís Marine Operations Centre, at 0545-0613 UTC with a synthesized voice in accented English (not quite a New Zealand accent) giving weather information, especially forecasted wind speeds when I first tuned in. The information included readings from Auckland and Wellington airports. Fair signal that peaked at good, with some fading and plenty of atmospheric noise; slight interference from other utility and possibly amateur operators. Overall, though, very audible. SINPO 24332.

Good catch, it's a regular this way, for a marine weather station it also includes various airport weather too, Auckland Volmet is just "up the road" on 6.679MHz USB.

Auckland Volmet does regional aviation airport weather for Papeete, Noumea, Rarotonga, Nadi and Apia etc.

There's also a couple of private marine weather stations too in New Zealand operated by volunteers who have broadcasts on HF.

Yaesu FT-1000D, Yaesu FT-2000D, ICOM IC-736 HF/50MHz, ICOM IC R75 & Tecsun S-2000 to 450 feet of wire, 27MHz 1/2 wave CB antenna converted to 21MHz & a multi band vertical of dubious reliability.
