UNID Quebec Pirate 6950 AM and later 6925 AM 2318z
« on: July 26, 2011, 0006 UTC »
First heard on 6950 AM, then switched to 6925 AM at 2336z. Mostly S9 signal at first, then the signal started to fade, including lots of very deep fades. Lots of static from local t-storms did not help. The IDs were very difficult to make out, I did hear what sounded like "pirate quebec" as part of the ID. The program was music, much or all of it in French.

Still going at 0006z.

Anyone want to claim this?

Here's an ID I coped: www.spynumbers.com/whyp/piratequebec.mp3

I also have it here in the Boston area with a signal that varies between S3 and S7. Very significant band noise tonight. The music sounds pretty clear but I am also foiled every time I have heard an ID.

Sounds like another station, possibly Captain Morgan, on frequency now as well, at 0020z or so.

I had "Summer Breeze" & "Voodoo Child" on 6925am .... then signal lost in noise. I assumed this to be Captain Morgan.

I can confirm the transmission as Pirate Quebec.  Second broadcast of Show no 1.  Location is in a heavily populated area near the Quebec/Ontario border.

Many thanks for the constructive comments.  Will definitely get rid of the computer-generated IDs (I am still fairly new to this and definitely cautious).

No QSL/eQSL just yet...

Hello Flibustier,
I received an email from Captain Morgan asking me to pass along an apology if he came up on top of you on 6925. He did not hear anyone on frequency. When he noticed the posting of you on frequency, he pulled the plug. At my location, I did not hear you either, but I could hear him. Again - he says sorry.

L Cee,

Certainly not a problem.  My antenna is rather low (something I am looking to address), so I am not surprised I did not reach that far south.

Hi Flibustier,

Thanks for putting on the show. Unfortunately I had local thunderstorms yesterday, so even though your signal was quite good at times (S9), reception was difficult.

I look forward to your next transmission!

Hi Flibustier,
Sorry to reply here, but I don't have your e-mail address and I didn't see it in your profile. Could you send any information about your station for the 2012 edition of the Pirate Radio Annual to ayoder at hobbybroadcasting dot com  ? or

Sorry I missed your show last night. I went up to the radio room & heard Captain Morgan blasting in on 6950, but unfortunately I didn't tune in any earlier.

Thanks for broadcasting & have a great day!
Andrew
