The trains across the oceans will reduce travel time greatly for those who previously had to swim across.

A lot of people have forgotten about this, but you could once drive to Cuba. Catch the ferry in Key West and disembark in La Habana.

Al, John Huston, and I used to drive down regularly. Huston had this wino buddy, Ernie, who was always bumming rides and booze. He smelled just like that pack of six toed cats that was always following him around. We tried to make him ride in the back with Al's pet goat, but the goat wanted nothing to do with him. We usually ended up tying him to the roof.

But after I had got them out and shut the door and turned off the light it wasn't any good.
It was like saying good-by to a statue.  After a while I went out and left the hospital
and walked back to the hotel in the rain.

Pigmeat - any chance Al could introduce AOC to the wonderful radio hobby? Maybe she could put together a Shortwave New Deal.  Some sort of a federal rebate on ham and shortwave radio, a la the Electric Vehicle subsidies? Maybe even get WWV back on 30 and 35 MHz in time for the next solar maximum. Get the GOP on board with funding to put AFRTS and the CIA Counting Station back on the air. Maybe GWEN also? So many possibilities.
