« on: March 03, 2019, 0453 UTC »
Hey, HFU-er's. Long time stalker, long lost poster who forgot his log-in and user name.
Last night after midnight, I caught a Russian speaking station on 1610 khz in the Great Lakes region. Station faded in and out. No clue on what it was.

I think that's a multi-ethnic station from Windsor, Ont. They play a variety of programming.

Are you sure it was Russian ?
There are a couple of Canadian ethnic stations on 1610 but the one is mostly Spanish
and the other mostly a variety of southern Asian languages.
Perhaps one or the other may have an occasional Russian program that you heard.
Otherwise,  cannot find a listing of any Russian station on 1611 (ITU Region 1 spacing).

I heard it again last night, about the same time. I doubt it is the Windsor station, compared it to Detroit AM stations, and considerable difference in the signals. I am thinking it might be one of the canadian stations. Next weekend, I'm going to try to compare what I'm hearing over the air to what's on their webstream and see.

In a pinch you can use a ambc portable with a ferrite bar antenna to shoot an azimuth to the signal source, a null will point directly towards and away from the tx.

I heard what I thought was Russian1 last night (Mar 11, 2019) around 0205 GMT. Heard a clear ID at 0211-0213 GMT of "Voces Latinas."

1 While it sounded like Russian, unsure what it actually was.

AFAIK...  there are two Canadian stations on 1610.  One is in Montreal QC (CHRN) and the other is in Toronto ON (CHHA).
"Voces Latinas" is the Toronto station per their website.  The only U.S. stations on 1610 are TIS.
