It probably not on purpose, Crusher. You've got factor in they may be tx'ing from a remote site in the boonies with rough terrain, lots of trees, and resulting zero wireless service to use a phone to check SDR's around the region.

It used to be a lot more common.

It may well have been us, as we were testing the relay link earlier last night.  If it was, Crusher, we sincerely apologize. We moved over to 6930 KHz when a friend let us know there was a giant ute signal covering us up at his QTH.
