I heard the English DJ mention club nights in Ibiza in June (so I guess an old recording) plus Sydney, Australia, also mention of A State of Trance website, but no idea who was putting this out. Trance music (the kind of stuff Radio Joey plays a lot but it wasn't him). SINPO 44433 on SW England SDR at 1727.

Skip, worth a check in the morning.  Wouldn't be the first time a commercial broadcaster's been mistaken for a pirate.

Looking at the WRMI schedule on their website broadcasts on 4980Khz only started at 2300UTC with "Supreme Master TV".

It is possible they had some unscheduled programming (or the web site is out of date) earlier but the 4980Khz beams in southerly direction (160 degrees according to web site).

I usually get WRMI on 7780Khz  (which beams north-easterly, 44 degrees) but normally not before local nighttime; most days its about 2000 or 2100UTC before I get a readable signal. I have received a broadcast from them targetted to the Caribbean once (on 5010Khz)  but only in the early hours of the morning (0100-0200 UTC).

Not discounting Skipmuck's suggestion (he's much more experienced in this stuff than me) but seems unlikely to me.

No, I'm almost 100% certain this was a European pirate. I logged it at 1727 UTC, so still daylight in the UK, with an S9 signal and pretty solid with little fading. BetaJBK in Finland logged a station on 6265 from 1749 playing trance music - might have been the same station.  https://betajbk.com/log/
