how do we know this was Rostov Volmet? the frequency of 6945 doesn't match any i've seen for Rostov Volmet.

Normally they ID themselves at the end of each transmission like "ROSTOV METEO, KONEC" (KONEC ≈ OUT)

Don't have Rostov Volmet on latest VOLMET worldwide list on that frequency, however, it is listed for 6.617MHz tx 25/55 RLAP Rostov 2.0Kw transmitter, in Russian.

6.945MHz could be maritime or military in Russia.
Condobolin, NSW.

Yaesu FT-1000D, Yaesu FT-2000D, ICOM IC-736 HF/50MHz, ICOM IC R75 & Tecsun S-2000 to 450 feet of wire, 27MHz 1/2 wave CB antenna converted to 21MHz & a multi band vertical of dubious reliability.

@ Looking-Glass:

ROSTOV VOLMET is verified by ID'ing themselves at the and of transmission as I described above.

As we know from Russian officials they give a sh*t on bandplans for their state's communications. If they want they access new frequencies. And they don't give a damn if they mistune a transmitter also...

I heard their ID at the beginning of the transmission. Here´s my recording from Oct 27: https://www.dropbox.com/s/i7eq1nxzg6iyofh/Rostov%206945.MP3?dl=0
So it was clearly Rostov Volmet.
It´s not a listed Volmet frequency, but the frequency is one of the Russian Regional Aero-Net frequencies. So the Volmet broadcast might have been there by error as I couldn´t hear them on their 8 MHz frequency on that day.
