1. Keep on mind rf is just light you can't see

2. RF gotta go somewhere (Gooch's Paradox)

3. If it's a conductor it's an antenna, and is receiving from and/or sending electromagnetic energy to conductors around it

4. You are an antenna

My antenna erection sure turned me into part of one the other night from those wonderful end fed standing waves.
Now what about the Gooch?
I'm not saying aliens are in the radio, but aliens definitely are in the radio.

Gooch says if you fractal wrap a two foot square box with a full wave on 20m worth of wire and hit it with 100w on 14313 the rf gatta go somewhere.

5. An antenna will reradiate about 1/3 of the total power received by that antenna, so you're only getting 2/3 of what is in there into the receiver.

6a. Verticals are great low angle antennas, if you have enough ground radials.
6b. You almost never have enough ground radials.

7. According to reciprocity, that 800ft tall am tower transmitting to your puny ambc loopstick 1000 miles away should be able to hear you just as well. If it weren't for the fact if you put that much power into the loopstick it'd go critical and level your neighborhood.

8a. Any kludged, poorly designed and executed antenna erected during inclement wx such as blizzard, hurricane, sheets of rain with added lightning, will outperform the most advanced designs with the highest standards of professional manufacture by at least 10dB.

8b. Add 10dB if an injury results from that inclement wx installation.
