FRS/GMRS 462.725 MHz 2112 UTC 13 Nov 2019

I haven't checked this band for a while. I have two OMs in a QSO. They mentioned ham/CB radio along with computer issues. One of them sounds like one of the local CBers I hear. Very very strong signal. They cannot be far away.

Update - I tried with my AOR 8200 and little whip antenna, and still a good signal. Maybe they are neighbors 

I think I heard a call of WRCH 528 when one of them signed off.

Must be something different.   That callsign is for a licensee in Quincy, MA.

Thanks, I wasn't paying attention when I heard the call, so I obviously mangled some of the characters. If they're on again I'll see if I can get it correct this time

Hearing one of them again at 2030 UTC, I heard a mention of New Holland Pike and route 30, which is in Lancaster PA. So further away than I thought.

OK I heard a call that seems reasonable: WRDU664, Dallastown, PA GMRS.

And another, WRAK262 Etters, PA. Near Harrisburg. 

I wonder if they are using a repeater?

I have a GMRS license and a repeater although not near my home. They are nice to have when we go on a family vacation. I run some small palm sized radios that fit easily into your pocket. Sometimes it is just handy to have the radios when you separate in a mall, taking a walk, etc.  Surprisingly not a lot of activity up this way.

FRS/GMRS is quite useful.  It's nice to have a GMRS license (I have one as well) to transmit higher power on the simplex freqs or use repeaters if needbe.  Sometimes UHF is better than VHF (read: MURS) for portable-to-portable communications.
