WGCH (Greenwich, CT) Off AM Signal
« on: December 31, 2019, 1950 UTC »
Not sure whether this is the right place for this....feel free to move.

A friend of mine that works at the station tells me that WGCH (1490 AM, Greenwich CT) has ceased broadcasting on that frequency (due to "circumstances out of the station's control".  At least for the time being, they are now on 105.5 FM.

Further research reveals that the station is being forced to move their AM transmitter.  Staff was apparently "told to vacate (a small building)...by December 31st".

Wondering if WGCH lost a lease on the building...oh well.  Just a heads up.

Not only does the transmitter have to move from its location, but also the STICK.  They say they will be back on AM after a relocation.
Tecsun H501x (broadcast received on this unless noted), Zenith T/O G500, Zenith T/O Royal 7000, Emerson AR-176, Zenith 8S154, T/O 7G605 (Bomber), Tecsun PL-600, Tecsun PL-880, Zenith 5S320, Realistic DX 160 using 40 feet of copper wire.  With apologies to Senator Gramm for his thoughts on firearms, "I have more radios than I need but not as many as I want."
QTH:  Durham, Connecticut (rural setting, 15 miles north of Long Island Sound)
qsl please to:  jamcanner@comcast.net  (Thank you)

Why wait for a crisis when you can pick up a phone and make one.

My friend confirms that said building has a new owner, and they said "see ya" to WGCH.  Hope they can find a new facility soon.
