Boeing 051 working Boeing Everett 5451 khz 22:00 UTC 2 Feb

looks like i have another Boeing Test Flight frequency. i was monitoring 11175 and saw a signal pop up on 11306, one of Boeing's HF frequencies. this was interesting because there is currently what looks and sounds like an over the horizon radar very strong over a range of frequencies 11306 was right in the middle of.

the pilot made note of that too and couldn't hear Boeing Everett well through it (nor could i). he said "Can we move to 5451 to see if that ticking sound goes away?" so i moved there and they performed some SELCAL checks. the pilot then asked "what UHF frequency would for you today?" Boeing Everett replied back 230.25 Mhz and they moved there.both were heard loud and clear on 5451 i do not have a UHF antenna otherwise i would have tried to follow them there.

Nice catch, this was a newly built USAF KC-46A tanker flight test. According to a spreadsheet on Airliners.net, specifically it's:

L/N 1188 C/N 41868 B767-2LKC 18-46051 USAF KC-46A (VH051) Lot 4, #11/18, tail 86051

So new I can't actually find any pictures of it and I also can't find the N number it's flying under. Usually the plane spotters around PAE capture everything.

Here's the flight track: https://www.radarbox24.com/data/flights/BOE051

Wow, hey Matt, glad you joined us! I have been following you and your pictures for YEARS on airliners.net and your blog, and pretty sure I briefly chatted with you while I was hanging out in the Future of Flight parking lot about 10 years ago, watching 787 tests. My one and only visit to KPAE but I'd like to bring my little kids back when they're older.

so are these Boeing test flight loggings helpful? i'm just wondering if i should keep posting them. i have no idea of the transmitter power of the planes or Boeing Everett and Boeing Seattle so i'm not sure they'd be heard beyond the local area. i'm still very new at all this so let me know if i should keep posting them or not.  :)

Yes, absolutely, these are really interesting. Keep them coming! It'd be extra fantastic if Matt has pictures of the stuff you catch (I think he gets pictures of everything). If you have not seen his blog you should check it out: http://kpae.blogspot.com/
