KJJR 880 AM 0748 UTC 8 Feb 2020
« on: February 10, 2020, 2000 UTC »
Caught this Whitefish, Montana, station when it rose above the thick mess on 880 kHz with a clear ID at 0750 UTC: “107.9 FM and 880 AM, KJJR.” That was followed by returning to a replay of Rush Limbaugh’s show. I heard more IDs in and out of ad breaks at 0755 UTC and 0758 UTC before a legal ID at the top of the hour. With local KIXI nulled, KJJR’s only real competition on this evening was CHQT out of Edmonton. This station is listed as running 500 watts at night; distance from me is 357 miles.

My first logging since returning to our regular house after seven months on the other side of town here!

The big signal on 880 at night here in Michigan is 50kw WCBS out of NYC.
Been trying for KRVN in Nebraska but they beam away from me at night.
However, did manage to snag lowly 1800 watt daytimer WPIP Winston-Salem NC
in the null of WCBS and under WRFD Columbus OH once on sunrise skip.

Good to hear you are back at your real QTH.   :)

I've snagged KRVN once or twice in recent months. Now logged a half-dozen stations on 880 here in recent months. I'm just far enough away from KIXI's transmitter site in the Seattle area that it can be easily nulled.

WCBS was really blasting in here last evening.
Heard them on the xtal set louder than most locals.
