fishing beacon 160 meters
« on: February 29, 2020, 0427 UTC »
Using the online rx from Northern Utah WebSDR I can hear IX3 in weak CW on 1806 KHz. I cannot hear it on my home dipole at all. Maybe it's in the Pacific, which would explain why the Utah receiver detects it and I don't. It appears to repeat itself three times every four minutes or so.

I've heard these things on both 160 and 80 meters over the years. They're not really a nuisance given their infrequent timing and weak signals. I always viewed them as a curiosity and only knew they were fishing beacons from hearing other ops talk about them.

IX3 1806 KHz 0425z
