All correct  Thanks for the report Much appreciated, I'm experimenting with a 1/4 wave inverted "L" to see if i can improve my signals against the G8RV short version...NOT convinced.
I really need some antenna mapping soft ware to help me.
Oh the reason for the drift was me pulling the crystal onto frequency.

Thanks again 73's

(edit by Ray : adding the lost /quote beacon)

Add a second 1/4 wave inverted "L" on the opposite, changing the vertical wire in an open ladder line : thus you'll get a doublet antenna, needing no lossy earth (instead, you'll need some form of balun or balanced ATU).

I would love to, but its down to space I'm afraid, the short G5RV on just fit's but its way to reactive for my 60 watt rig I've taken the PA out 3 times now, for what ever reason the rig just dosent like the RV. I'm hoping the inverted "L" will be more suited.
if you have any other ideas tho' I'm always up for an experiment, particularly right now being on Lock down. :)

The doublet antenna needs no more space than the half G5RV, a 15m span is enough for 48m wavelength : the remaining of the half wave is hidden in the tuned line and the ATU. Or the whole antenna+line can also be tuned as a 3 half wave system (with the open part not so close to the house). The tuning can be sharp, so for transmitting, it's better to ensure the wires are not moved too much by the winds.
