Yes, upper atmosphere conditions were very different during thosetwo days.

A Vaisala RS41 radiosonde launched on December 8, 2019 by the Hellenic National Meteorological Service  in Glyphada, Greece, approaching Syros Island. Now using RS41 Tracker software by IW1GIS, with Open Street Maps (OSM) support.

20191224-0058-403000 kHz par SV1XV, on ipernity

Two Vaisala RS41 radiosondes received today at 00:58 UTC. The one on the left (403.000 MHz) is identified as the Hellenic National Meteorological Service radiosonde launched from Thessaloniki. The one on the right (403.010 MHz) was not decoded, but it is most likely the elusive HNMS radiosonde launched from Iraklion (Heraklion), Crete.

The one on the right (403.010 MHz) was not decoded, but it is most likely the elusive HNMS radiosonde launched from Iraklion (Heraklion), Crete.
Radiosonde expert Mercouris SV2HWM suggests that this second signal probably belongs to a Turkish radiosonde launched from Izmir.
