Excellent reception.  Finally hooked up the '83 Sherwood S-9300CP receiver to the long wire and started spinning the dial, it was always a great receiver.  This is stunning,  Broadcast matches program on 9690 am to the second.

2345 ID, 2 OM's in Spanish
2349 Various snippets of "Close to you"
0000 IS, RN Espana ID, to news "Covid"

Odd, can't seem to find MW station for RNE in Spain near that frequency.

Interesting... are you sure about the frequency ?  1392 is not evenly divisible by 9.
Also, perhaps overseas territory (Canary Is., Ceuta, Melilla) ?

edit:  nearest 9kc channels are 1386 and 1395,  1386 is second harmonic of 693... there are several RNE AM on 693.

Yes......I'm sure it was 1392 (digital read with nothing received on 1390 and 1395)  and I know it is not divisible by 9 (listened to radio while in Europe before), that's what got me thinking it might be something with the receiver perhaps.  This receiver would regularly pick up RVI when they were broadcasting.  I also checked all the Spanish island territories for their radio frequencies, nothing matched.  But as noted, the ID was not Radio Exterior but Radio Nacional and to the syllable matched the broadcast on 9690.  I'll try again tonight.

Have RNE on 1392 AM on the '83 Sherwood receiver again (2317 utc 23 Apr), matches what is on 9690 AM.  My Tecsun PL 880 has no reception of RNE on 1392 am.   As previously mention, I can recall this happening with Belgium broadcaster RVI several times with this receiver.  Until recently, I hadn't used the component in about 15 years and just hooked it up to the long wire.

Couple of clues here, 1392 is not a European channel and you don't hear it on the 880.  Beginning to look like some mixing in the IF.
What is the IF frequency(s), double or single conversion ?  Does it have an RF stage ?  Could be an almost infinite number of frequency combinations.
Have heard SW stations on various of my AM sets in the past and never really figured out the combination.
