Magic Shortwave Radio 6925USB *0043 - 0240*
« on: March 20, 2012, 0109 UTC »
20Mar12
Since apparent 0043 s/on, music, all unid.  Between selections, OM talk and impromptu singing.  Some lyric "I don't know" and "I'm going home".
Very tough copy in very high storm noise, but sig has been building steadily since s/on.  Abt S6 @ 0111z
0119 Singing shoutout to me - a tentative Thanks! for the serenade until I replay the audio and get the context...still very tough copy here.
0128 ment "...we're on our way to crazy town..."
0155 Many ments "Magic Shortwave Radio", more shoutouts (Thanks!)
0200 "Testing, testing 1, 2, 3, on Magic Shortwave Radio.  Magical Monday!"
0217 Singin' the "RAFman" song and hitting teeth on microphone.  Ouch!
0240 "That's going to do it.  73"  s/off

Hangin' in here.  Storm noise is killer tonight.  Going thru every window and tab page in the software punchin' buttons at random to see if anything works!

Great show!  This was a lotta fun.
Your QSL appreciated.

Rough copy here too.  They are S3 here, but very frequent static crashes to S9.
I think 2 announcers mentioned trying to get through the noise and looking for reports....
I'm not able to identify any of the music they are playing, but might be able to get a station ID if they repeat it a few times

Update:
Heard my name @ 0139 and again later with thanks (your welcome).  Also heard mention of McArdle.
Excited screams at 0144 and heard "Magic Shortwave Radio 6925"

Still S3 between the static crashes @ 0220.
The music sounds like it is going thru a ring modulator here, so maybe it is over-modulated.  Announcers voices sound ok.
Signal up to S6 during the song @ 0226

Possibly a Def Lepard song @ 0238, but music is still very distorted here.

Thanks for the show -- would have been a lot of fun under better conditions.

Heard 73 and see you next time and off @ 0240

Please QSL!

Magic Shortwave Radio, 3-20-12, 0044-0240*, 6.925.1U, sigs hr way under the static crashes...hearing pretty much as above with the exception of the song lyrics, can't make out any of those, did hear ancr drop the "f bomb" at 0129 and say "we're tryin'".  Heard "magic shortwave radio" at 0139.  Hearing my name at 0141...........Hellllllllllooooooooo.  Ancr going bananas over my apparent correctly guessing of the ID of the station............signal is so lousey I can't tell if it's sarcasm or not............okay, I'm going with "Magic Shortwave Radio." Thanks for the shout-outs!  Signal has picked up a bit now....helps when ancr screams as the highs seems to penetrate the static better.

Man, this is better than seeing my name in lights....hearing all the mentions of me......thanks....

Way too much fun on the radio tonight!  Sure would appreciate a qsl...addresses are below...thought I heard a hotmail address, but not sure.

Off at 0240....thanks for the show...think sig was S5 with my S9+ static level here tonight.

They've just come up out of the noise here in flyover country. Heard another shoutout to S. McArdle @ 01:59z. Very tough copy with the storm noise here. UnID Music @ 02:00z.

Catherwood

EDIT: Shout out to me @ 02:07z. Thanks magic shortwave radio. Half the time I don't know where flyover country is either. Sigs up to 10Db over even without shouting.

02:11z Guitar riff opening and vocals sound like maybe Jane's Addiction?
02:15z ID Magic Shortwave Radio
02:16z Static making it tough, but another mention of flyover country

Fun show, what I can hear of it. Thank you MSR. - Get a rubber mouth guard and protect your teef!

02:19z Tea for Two? ahahahahaha! Love it.
02:22z some props to L Cee
02:26z Second of two music selections in a row. Guitar riffs and vocals is about all I can make out. Too bad condx suck.
02:34z Dropped into the static just as I  heard "Catherwood", maybe a short discussion about yer new teef guard?
02:36z "Last tune" Offspring?

Hope to hear you again soon Magic Shortwave Radio.

3/20/12, 1:55+ UTC just above the noise floor here - the op's mic audio seems stronger than the music. I can't really make out the music - the level is at or below noise floor. The op's audio is much stronger, but very hard to copy through severe static from local thunderstorms. At 2:07 I heard op with "testing, testing" and and ID.   At 2:17 I hear op talking about "RAFman". Music at 2:19. ID "Magic Shortwave Radio" heard at 2:22 UTC. I hear "L Cee" shout out !!! Thanks man !

Signoff at 2:40. Thanks for the show.

I can hear it but static is making it headphones only listening & not much in the clear here.
Not stations fault, it's condx... Have tried every combination of RX & ants, NO Joy...
SINPO 33133 @0209z

Here, too. I had the R8 on 6925U and the recorder running while I was out playing basketball. Just checked the file and I have at least an hour recorded. I plan to listen to it on headphones tomorrow. If the op has an e-mail address, I'll send an audio file & a report. Thanks for the show!

The signal was weak here and sometimes faint, but it had a number of moments in which it was just on the good side of the edge of intelligibility. The music all seemed to be '80s/early '90s hair metal, but there's a chance that something might have been by The Offspring. With all of the "whoa-ohs," I kept imagining that nearly every song was either Bon Jovi or The Offspring, but I couldn't positively ID anything.

0129 possible mention of FRN. "Hello, radio" "...very difficult for...scouring the Internet, looking for reports and such"
0149 clear ID "...The Magic Shortwave Radio Hour..."
0157 "We got a couple of...6-9-2-5 upper side band, you got that right"
0201 Singing to L Cee
0211 "...radio on 6-9-2-5..." mentioned logging that said the signal was more intelligible when he shouted, so he screamed. Think I heard song to RAFman, to the tune of "Batman"
0214 "...Magic Shortwave Radio" then into a song
0217 "Magic Shortwave Radio, that's Magic Shortwave Radio" Heard the rundown of those who logged the station online, but could only make out "Scott McArdle" more IDs

Thanks much for the show! Sounded like a lot of fun, but I wish I could've copied more.
