Shuttered AM College Station Frequency in CT Relaying NWR Transmitter

WQUN 1220 AM in Hamden, CT was shut down by Quinnipiac University just about a year ago.  To the best of my knowledge and monitoring, the frequency has been silent during daylight hours.  At 2315 utc on 3 Jun 2020, I received the transmission of WXJ 42 NWR Transmitter (162.400 MW).  It is the first time I have heard said weather broadcast relayed in the standard broadcast band.  Station ID at 2329 utc.

I think I may have answered my own question and the sudden reception, from Wikipedia:

"WATX (1220 AM Stereo) is a radio station licensed to Hamden, Connecticut. The station, owned by Quinnipiac University, is currently simulcasting the local NOAA Weather Radio signal WXJ-42 from Meriden, Connecticut. The station, under its previous call sign WQUN, aired the adult standards format America's Best Music from Westwood One, before going silent on May 31, 2019. The station resumed broadcasting on May 28, 2020, to satisfy FCC requirements and retain the license for another six months.  On May 27, 2020 the call letters were changed to WATX"

Further info - I had since heard that there is an interested party in purchasing WATR 1320 in Waterbury, CT and and newly renamed WATX (probably explains recent station name change). 

Just now - I received an email from an Asst. VP at Quinnipiac which states:

"We have a MOU with an interested buyer, and in preparation for transferring the license we are broadcasting weather radio for two weeks to maintain an active license per FCC requirements."

I interpret this to mean that the new format of the station is going to really suck.

June 27 - After relaying NOAA weather for four weeks, the station is silent today.  By poor coincidence, our first day (of several in a row to come) this year predicted to have severe/damaging thunderstorms.  If you are watching THE Travelers golf tournament this weekend you'll see them roll in.
