Radio New Zealand's been unusually tough to hear nicely at night here lately, but it was booming in nicely with a few songs in a row by Leonard Cohen (one of my absolute favorites) in the midnight hour locally here on the U.S. West Coast.

Currently playing back my overnight recording, signal on 11725 as of 0810 was fair at best. I was surprised at how good it was 0600-0800 UTC on 13730, usually I have nothing to work with when I play back that part. You should check that out next week (assuming they're still on that schedule - midseason changes tend to happen on Saturdays UTC and I've missed parts of RNZ Saturday Night Requests when I failed to check for such a change beforehand). If I get it good, you should get it very well.

UPDATE the signal reached good levels by the end of the 11725 broadcast (0958 UTC). Meaning they were good for the last half hour or so, SIO 344.

Caught Leonard Cohen perform in May 2009 in Waterbury, CT.  He was outstanding.  He was backed by the Webb Sisters who were just as good.

Tecsun H501x (broadcast received on this unless noted), Zenith T/O G500, Zenith T/O Royal 7000, Emerson AR-176, Zenith 8S154, T/O 7G605 (Bomber), Tecsun PL-600, Tecsun PL-880, Zenith 5S320, Realistic DX 160 using 40 feet of copper wire.  With apologies to Senator Gramm for his thoughts on firearms, "I have more radios than I need but not as many as I want."

I have lots of bands/musicians that I'm a fan of, but Leonard Cohen is top three for me. (The Clash and The Sundays make up the rest of my musical "holy trinity.")
