10 kHz spacing is the standard in all of the Americas, North, Central, and South, not just the USA & Canada. There used to be a number of stations operating on oddball (often ending in 5 kHz) frequencies, especially in the Caribbean, which made them easier DX targets, but they have since moved to 10 kHz Channels.
