Un-ID Beacon on 4096 last night "TCO" ?
« on: January 05, 2022, 1524 UTC »
1/4/2022  aprox 12:30 UTC, 4096.1 ?

Very slow cw, sounded like about 3wpm. Couldn't get a clear ID.. sounded like "MOC" or some combinations of that ?? I was on the bedside receiver and couldn't check the SDR. I'll listen again tonight.

Any clues?.. didn't see anything close on the list.

EDIT: This is probably what I heard... Quoted from another post;

"there is a new very strong signal on 4095.99 - sending "TCO" in very slow CW"

It was TCO and that was good luck to have caught it too. It appears to be off the air right now but am hoping it is a night time only beacon and not some random electrical failure.

I guess a night time only could be the case considering the freq.  8) hopefully not a failure as you mentioned.

Token believes it to be a once in a while pirate station (KPZL) that shows up around new years, tries transmitting here and there to "puzzle" listeners and then it goes off the air.

At 01:32 UTC it paused and sent "KPZL" and then resumed with "TCO"

01:39 UTC it paused and sent "TE2" then "- .... -" which I believe is the symbol for a "dash" or subtraction sign

TCO is gone today from 4096 but DW has it's usual big signal at 4095.7
