Good catch on your part...the slow dash mode  does not occur very often based on my listening.
Generally when I have caught Hiker in slow dash mode a SKY KING cw message follows.
I did catch four or five cw messages this past summer...they mainly were about the operators
fishing adventures.  The operator uses a J 37 leg key from the Vietnam days.
