Parts for Grundig Radios?
« on: October 22, 2012, 1900 UTC »
Someone dropped off a Grundig G8 (Traveler II) for repair.

All that is wrong with it is the knob on the volume control just spins. It looked like an easy fix but upon getting it apart, it looks like the pot is made with the control disc as an integral part. The "shaft" between them that broke looks to be 1-1.5 mm in diameter and recessed into the pot a bit so glue is not an option.

I found a few spare parts for sale online but they are things like battery covers and antennas. No volume controls.

Anyone have any ideas? (apart from throwing it out) :)

That may be a good solution. I was considering a #60 drill and a piece of fine brass wire. Not mention a limited warranty on the repair  ;)
