1710 KHz "The Big Q" 0115-0312+ UTC 11/20/2012
« on: November 20, 2012, 0117 UTC »
I'm hearing the "Big Q" on 1710 AM right now, 0115 UTC with oldies music and positive ID.  Great to hear this one again!  Signal all over the place from the noise to S8 on fade-ups.  Faded completely at 2022 UTC but now back again after a Chickenman episode, ID and into another oldies tune at 0128 UTC.

I'm also hearing "W807" in there from Chicago with talk about donating to a local charity or mission.

0019Z 15421 S2 In the noise, but definitely hear music.
0021Z Faded away
0131Z 15411 S2 Harry Nilsson "Me And My Arrow"
0139Z 15411 S2 Strawberry Alarm Clock "Incense And Peppermints"
0209Z 15411 S2 Wilson Pickett "Land Of 1000 Dances"

This might be W807 in Chicago (remains to be seen).

Nothing here either, darnit.  :(  Usually, anything that might be on 1710 gets splatted by the loud ESPN affiliate in Iowa on 1700.  An-noy-ing!

Yes, that's always a problem here too.  I'd suggest listening to 1710 in USB mode if you're able to so you can dodge the splatter from 1700.  Works well for me this way.

I am currently hearing *something* on 1710kHz AM, hearing OM and it sounds like talk radio.  I can only hear the timbre and rhythm of human voice, copy is very poor so I cannot make out the words. First time for me on this frequency, hearing anything-- and I check often.

My location is Southwestern USA using a coax as antenna approximately 65' vertical (going up a condo wall to the roof!) Tentec 320D modified for improved LF reception. I got the instructions from the tentec yahoo group and the modification is so incredible MW dxing is my new hobby.

Nice to have a set of ears down your way tuned into 1710.  Let us know what you hear there.
