Just checked an SDR in VA and am hearing stations from all over the UK with great signals, even some mobile stations. I'm not too surprised though... these conditions tend to happen when I'm at work!

Were these UK stations on their FM allocation or the AM/SSB allocation that lines up with USA?

I tried their FM freqs here and heard nothing.  I think most of my issue is my poor antenna.

I'm sorry. Looking back at my post, I see I didn't provide much info. I was specifically listening on 27.385 LSB. I did check the area of 27.555 USB, but didn't hear anything.
