'Forever' no more than 2 hours long ?
« on: December 04, 2021, 0030 UTC »
For many weeks now, I am disconnected of HF-U several times each day,
although still using the 'forever' choice.

And reconnecting is often unsuccessful, at times up to 5 or 6 tries before succeeding.

Maybe something changed here, but I can't find what.

Formerly, 'forever' was 'forever'. I had almost forgotten my password.

Nothing has changed here on the HFU end in quite some time (years) regarding the site software.  I'd suggest trying a different browser?

That would be the expected behaviour. The selections (1 hour, 1 day ... forever) sets the time stamp on the cookie and tells it when it should expire. If you clear the cookies, regardless of the time frame selected at login, they are gone.

3rd party "identity trace cleaners" such as CCleaner or some Internet privacy module in anti-virus software will also eradicate those cookies.

I personally operate with "1 day" and log out at the end of my session/day.

I've had this problem periodically in the past, as recently as 2 days ago.   Resetting the password usually solves the problem

Also just want to point out that when using a web browser in privacy mode, if you close the browser window, the cookies are cleared and this would cause Ray's problem to happen as well.

Thanks for all those replies. Maybe something changed here when the browser was updated. I will look to the parameters.

Allowing the cookies did not changed anything to my problem.

But my problem, dating from months and months ago, has just disappeared. And I know when and (partly) why. Suddenly, my browser went crazy, opening a new tab  each time I tried to modify a post, thus I could not modify anything, and it was almost useless for anything else too.

So I closed it completely, instead of letting it open as I used to do everyday when I shut down my PC (an hybrid tablet). When I reopened that browser (Opera), the new issues had disappeared, but also that old one of losing my logging at any time without any reason. It's so good now that when I open a new tab (near the first one) and set it to a fresh new HF Underground  page, I am also logged on that new tab. Amazing !

So the recipe is : close the browser window completely, with a click on the 'X ' in the upper right corner. Don't expect that just shutting down the PC can refresh the browser, the browser will restart with the same amount of old data.
