UNID broadcast 2280 kHz AM 02:27 UTC DEC 24 2021

2280 kHZ - weak signal but does fade in (strong) enough to hear music clearly and Spanish language programming. Nominally 2280 kHz but zero beats in SSB around 2280.08 kHz.

Have heard this one on and off for days now...still haven't had a signal peak at the same time they are giving ID.

UPDATE : at 02:38 there is no audio - carrier only and much stronger.
02:41 Off the air - no carrier at all now.

Hey Randy ,

Wild guess -maybe a (skywave ?)1140 harmonic ? Perhaps try a  second receiver on  1140 to see if the audio lines up with 2280.

FWIW, our local 850 puts out a rather nasty spur on 1700 audible  for 4 or 5 miles  from the  transmitter  site  on local ground wave. Fortunately it dies out around 95% + when approaching my home , so no issue here.

I was thinking a harmonic as well - have I logged and ID'd several in the past - even managed to record one of them. But no luck on this one yet. Hearing it again at 23:06 UTC today, Dec 25 - fading in and out with weak and distorted audio - playing music.Too many stations on 1140 to find matching audio. Will keep trying.

Heard it lately? I will try to remember to occasionally check for it in upcoming days.

My personal interest would be actually hearing something interesting around or near the 120m band other than WWV. 2-2.5MHz tends to be a RF void for me.
