4100 Letter "F" Beacon
« on: January 20, 2022, 0742 UTC »
At 0730 UTC on 20 Jan 2022 on 4100.0 I am hearing a F beacon in Santa Barbara. Wonder if it is from the same site as the H beacon, which I have not heard in several weeks?

Great tip Longwire!! Very nice signal, excellent coverage!! Comes in at this location like ground wave!

“F” is much stronger than “H” ever was at this location. "F" Was 599, no QSB at this location at 1416Z. Also fairly strong at several other Kiwi sites:

Parhrump, Nev 570 at 1419Z
Montana, 579 at 1418Z
Mojave, 589 at 1418Z
Winnamucca, Nev, 569 at 1420Z
Southern Ore, 569 at 1425Z

And, here I thought "H" might be here to stay for a while, but nothing heard at 0452Z after a good showing earlier. Maybe its the propagation....maybe not?

"H" reminds me of "L" which has been in and out of 409x.xx kHz for the past couple of years, both have very good coverage in the western US.

Here in Santa Barbara I am hearing the F beacon at 0913 UTC, but could not hear it an hour ago.  No copy on the Desert Whooper tonight.

I can also hear the F beacon on the KFS SDRs--it is strongest on the Southeast SDR, and a little weaker on the omni SDR.

Yes, I can also copy "F" here too starting at 1303Z, 579 with QSB. Must be a skip thing because the last time that frequency was checked here was 1212Z and nothing heard.

Well, good!!
