First time catching the Shannon VOLMET. Not super exciting but first time catches are always kinda cool, yeah?. Stumbled on it just poking around with my FMBC 2 meter vertical dipole (pointing north, approx. 35 ft mast)

I gotta try those frequencies later on. I'm always able to get Shannon and Gander. Hopefully I can receive those. I'll let you know how it goes.

Cool! Thanks.

Every time I stumble on one it's always Gander. Good to hear a new face.  I'll have to do some active searching now. :D

These MEM banks are great! I downloaded PC-HFDL to check out the HFDL freqs you had listed in the AirNav one. Pretty cool! No idea how to use the app yet but flight IDs are popping up with LAT & LONGs.

The 6661 kHz one is really active at the moment. (0151 UTC, 17 FEB 2022)

Thanks again, SIGINT.  :D

The PC-HFDL app was a trial evidently.

The free PC-HFDL v1.0 (unsupported version) can still be downloaded from the link below. It is not as spruced up as the full version but for decoding it will work just fine.

https://xoomer.virgilio.it/ham-radio-manuals/

If you want to get into some serious decoding, grab a copy of Sorcerer. Many of us, including myself, wish this decoder was still being maintained.

http://www.kd0cq.com/2013/07/sorcerer-decoder-download/

Some of the "bugs" in Sorcerer can be fixed by following the instructions here:
https://www.sigidwiki.com/wiki/High_Frequency_Data_Link_(HFDL)

The Sig ID Wiki page provides reference on how to correct the HFDL system table under "How to correct the site displays in Sorcerer". The procedure is correct, but the system table given on that site is out of date. HFDL is currently on system table #51. Below is the proper table to use:

UNKNOWN0
SAN FRANCISCO - CALIFORNIA
MOLOKAI - HAWAII
REYKJAVIK - ICELAND
RIVERHEAD - NEW YORK
AUCKLAND - NZ
HAT YAI - THAILAND
SHANNON - IRELAND
JOHANNESBURG - SOUTH AFRICA
BARROW - ALASKA
MUAN - SOUTH KOREA
ALBROOK - PANAMA
UNKNOWN12
SANTA CRUZ - BOLIVIA
KRASNOYARSK - RUSSIA
AL MUHARRAQ - BAHRAIN
AGANA - GUAM
CANARIAS - SPAIN

Send in your reception report via the below online form, and the IAA will likely send you a QSL card. :)

https://www.iaa.ie/air-traffic-management/north-atlantic-communications/reception-report-1

The IAA sent me a card for reporting Shanwick ATC a few years ago.
Tampa, FL USA | US Map Grid EL88
Airspy HF+ Discovery | KiwiSDR 2 | 2x Msi2500 Msi001 | 2x RTL-SDR V3 + NE602 | 2x RTL-SDR V4
