Crunch Radio was a shortwave pirate active on 6955 kHz AM in the early part of the 21st century. Program material consisted mainly of music from the early and mid-part of the 20th century, typically swing or big band material. The station made a special effort to provide quality sound. The transmitter was a plate modualted high fidelity homebrewed tube rig pushing a mighty 20 watts. The op sounded like an older gentleman; he explained at one point that the station name, "Crunch", was actually his wife's nickname.
