WJPL was a Brooklyn, New York based pirate broadcaster operating primarily on FM. WJPL was active in the 1980s. WJPL was hosted by John Lightning (hence the station's call letters, standing for John P. Lightning).

The operators of WJPL bacame involved with Allan Weiner and his various radio ship operations in the 1990s, including Radio Newyork International and Voyager Broadcast Systems. Following the demise of the radio ship projects, RNI appeared on licensed shortwave station WWCR for some time, and then established the anchor Sunday evening slot on WBCQ shortly after that station's forming. John Lightning remains the host on today's Radio Newyork International.
