Standard CB radio channels

US FCC 40 legal CB channels / EU CB channels / CEPT / mid band FM CB radio / Export Radio / Freeband CB Radio - Band D (or "Band C" in Russia).

AM and FM are used worldwide. AM is the standard or "default" mode in the United States, Canada and the rest of North America, as well as Central and South America, Australia and a handful of other locations. In Europe, FM is the standard or "default" mode. SSB is used worldwide and is legal nearly everywhere AM and FM are allowed.

The original 23 channel CB allocation is backward-compatible with the current 40 channel band plan. 23 channel CB radios are still legal. There are six remote control radio service (RCRS) or Class C CB data link, telemetry, remote control, wireless control, paging and model control channels. Five of them are exclusively allocated for that purpose. 27.255MHz, which is also CB radio channel 23, is shared with the RCRS service and the CB service. 27.255 MHz is used for high power data links, paging and other similar services. The RCRS data only channels are used for voice communications (usually illegally) as well.
