Organización Radial El Prado is a shortwave pirate from Colombia. It operates on 6017 kHz with seemingly low power. It has been operating for a year as of April 2022. Broadcasts usually consist of Colombian music (varying genres and time periods) with few announcements. When the announcer does talk, he uses reverb effects and sometimes has feedback in the audio. Multiple announcers have been heard (during different broadcasts). A sports program has been heard once (this is the only non-music program heard so far). Broadcasts start around 2230 or 2330 UTC and end around 0200 or 0300 UTC or even later (as late as 0530 UTC has been observed). It was operating almost daily as of November 2022. Around September it started developing transmitter issues that resulted in distorted (but not overmodulated) audio. In November or early December 2022 the station disappeared, probably due to the transmitter issues. It returned on January 15, 2023 with good audio. The station also operates "Prado Stereo" on 88.1 MHz and "Musical Stereo" on 98.1 MHz (also as a pirate). Its seems to be more than something a single person would run but does not air commercials. It could be run by a local radio club as a hobby. It can often be heard in eastern North America, although the signal is difficult to hear in the western part of the continent. It is believed to be broadcasting from the municipality of Palermo in the department of Magdalena. It is believed that its intended audience is in the nearby cities of Soledad and Barranquilla in the department of Atlantico. It has been very careful not to mention any contact information.
