Voice of Mercury

The Voice of Mercury is a FM micropower pirate that has operated on and off since 1989, originally from an office building in Orange, California, and later from Los Alamitos, CA; San Francisco's Haight-Ashbury district, and most recently from various locations around Portland, Oregon.

The Voice of Mercury typically operates on 104.7 MHz, although the station's current 50-watt transmitter and antenna is frequency-agile. The format tends to be eclectic favoring synthpop, techno, and punk. From time to time, experimental and "New Age" music is also broadcast. Also infrequently, the Voice of Mercury has also broadcast a 1-watt AM MW signal, typically on the top of the AM band. Format on the AM station is typically talk and rant, as opposed to the Voice's FM music format.

In 2008, the Voice of Mercury has begun broadcasting a "lowfer band" signal at 165 kHz SSB. Transmissions are sporadic.
