Recorder catch:

6925 (mode/s?)

This one is a bit confusing and it sounded like more than one person on the air at times - signals weren't strong, but audible.

07:15z could hear someone doing a mic test with a low voice
07:18z now hearing a piano version from Star Wars (that brooding melody whenever Darth Vader showed up) - audio sounds different from mic test earlier
07:20z after piano tune ended someone else came on for a second, but couldn't understand what they said
07:34z can still hear music
07:35z faded out or stopped

Audio (07:15z-07:35z): http://archive.org/download/ShortwaveOddsSodsTransmissions/Unid_pirate6925Usb0715z-0735z07-10-13.mp3

Thanks! :)

SDR recording catch here. Extremely weak signal. I heard the beginning around 0715z but that was it.

Recorder Catch on 6925USB

Seeing the logs of SL and Chris, I am a bit perplexed also.

Up until 0726, I heard nothing, and there was no evidence of any signal on the Strength History plot.

0726 I heard some torn up CW, and it sounded like "QV" repeated a few times.  Following, there seemed to be some CW in reply,
but this was even more tortured and at a different offset.
0728 I heard some weak music, offtuned a bit, and this was a dreamy spacey instrumental song.  It peaked to a couple S Units
above the floor for a few seconds.
0730 Last point I could definitely hear the music, and nothing is in the audio recording or Strength History after this.

You never know what goes bump in the middle of the night!

Recorder Catch on 6925USB

11 July 13
Like last night, heard a CW station sending "QV" five times at 0550z, with a much weaker reply a few seconds later.  There was no music heard close to this time frame, and I suspect that this is not a pirate and will not be reported as such - if at all - in the future.

Edit; As I log these in the book, I note that I DID log unid music 2 minutes prior to the CW at 0548z.  Hmmm...

Well sure enough, I had the CW at 0550z here as well. Extremely weak, I did not notice it when checking the SDR recordings and had to go back and listen carefully to hear it.

Thanks for the heads up, jFarley.
