There are several semi local TIS stations around here that run them 24/7. Sadly I've never heard an ID.

Skip, I heard the TIS station in your hometown on 1710 giving out weather info several times this winter when the blizzards were rolling in.

There was another in the Greater NYC area on 1710 this winter doing the same thing. No ID with this one but it was obvious where they were from the weather reports.

The other one is WQFG689 Hudson County, NJ. I seem to remember someone said they have or are going to crank up the power of this TIS to 100 watts under a special license

I've been tuning to the Springfield Armory Historical Museum TIS on 1710 occasionally since the beginning of the test loops back in early 2014. They changed to a standard loop message a month or so later, much of it consisting of directions to the museum. They have since changed the loop message again. With the upcoming construction of the MGM Casino in downtown Springfield, and the rebuilding of the I-91 viaduct, it should be quite a task to actually get to the Museum and I suspect the majority of the message will be entirely dedicated to directions. I have not heard any emergency weather messages this past winter, so I guess I missed them! I used to be able to hear the Hudson County TIS, as well as Radio Celestial. Now I can only occasionally hear whatever pirate is operating on 1710 under the Springfield TIS. I've listened to other TIS in the X-Band and it seems that they broadcast pretty much whatever they want to, FCC regs nonwithstanding. I noticed on some evenings several TIS from PA on 1640 taking turns fading in and out.
