Had KCJJ, again, to listen to on a job site commute. And, surprise, the female DJ was live, talking about the 1st tune she heard at the time when 1st working there as a teen in 2015, and then playing it as her choice. (WOW!!! A commercial station that still letīs you do that? Thatīs rare, today!) Top of the hour ID, CBS News, and local Iowa city, IA news, then back to 10-year-old hit music. Nice, to have this to listen to, again, with it getting darker earlier.

“I am often asked how radio works. Well, you see, wire telegraphy
is like a very long cat. You yank his tail in New York and he
meows in Los Angeles. Do you understand this? Now, radio is
exactly the same, except that there is no cat.”

Iowa City is a college town. The University of Iowa is located there. I would guess with the place being flat as a pancake, UoI's campus station influences the local radio market.

It IS the local market. Its akin to what the University of Wisconsin is to Madison (without the brainwashing and jump around, of course)
