WENO Shortwave 6955 USB 0004 UTC 2 JAN 2024
« on: January 02, 2024, 0004 UTC »
0004: BOT; instrumental (mostly sitar) Hindu prayer-type mx; repeat of WENO?
25232, S6-7
0008: tabla joins in sitar; suddenly much stronger 45344
[I could be wrong, but this sounds like Anoushka Shankar and Patricia Kopatchinskaja - Raga Piloo; been quite a while since I've heard it]; Do yourself a favor and watch the YouTube video of this - superb!
0019: another song/music for a minute; ad for ENO antacid; ID, then EOT

Thank you for the beautiful music!

0006 not very strong, sounds a bit like traditional Asian music crossed with Appalachian folk music (best as I can describe it), tuned in W3HFU kiwi SDR (250' V beam) because there's no signal at my QTH.
Denver, CO.
SDRPlay RSPdx & RSP2pro, Airspy Discovery HF+, Icom IC-7100, Grundig Satellit 750, Realistic DX-300, Tecsun PL-600.
MLA-30 active loop, G5RV dipole.
eQSLs appreciated wickerjennie at gmail

0007: S5 and noisy, Asian mystical flute sitar music. I have to agree with the others, sitar not flute. Signal is stronger as well.
0019: Female vocal. Into a jazzy music with ID.

0006 UTC Tuned in to sitar music (S7 peaks with light noise and excellent audio)
0018 UTC Different song...this one with vocals, then OM with ID "WENO Shortwave"
0020 UTC OFF

Now that was a nice sitar solo! Thank WENO!

Tuned in at 0019 utc on Brookfield WI sdr with fair S9 signal, heard what sounded like Bollywood music, announcement then off,
Drake R8, Kenwood R-2000, Panasonic RF-4900, Sony 2010, Realistic DX440, Grundig Satellit 500, CB antenna, Mt Prospect, IL 20miles (32km) NW of downtown Chicago. I have been using online receivers because my 7mhz dipole came down in a storm and after my stroke on 3 June 2024 I can no longer get up on a ladder to fix it. Also too much neighborhood noise. williamhassig@yahoo.com
