Hi Paul,

I have great success with Loop-on-Ground receive antennas. I have two of them setup so I have
one looking East-West and the other looking North-South. One is 60' total length the other 40'. They
are both laid about 50' from my house in a vacant field fed with coax underground. The 2 coax runs
are connected in my shack to an 4 way antenna switch. The switch feeds the K-480WLA pre-amp,
pre-selector.  The other 2 connections on the antenna switch are for the Loops that come with the
k-480WLA; the Loops are similar to the MLA-30 loops and feed the antenna switch which in turn also
feeds the K-480 the same way the 2 Loop-on-Ground feed it.  I use the loops mainly for VHF air type
stuff as they really don't perform that well for SWL.
The Loop-on-Ground antennas, which are simply #14 insulated wire laying on top of the ground and
held in place with plastic garden spikes. The antennas each have 4 sides shaped like a diamond. The
thing that makes them perfect as a receive antenna is the fact that the noise levels are really low making
reception of DX much simpler.  Your SDR device whether its a Dongle or a AirSpy HF+ discovery will
come alive like you won't believe.
Anyway I gotta go and I hope you have found this interesting.
