KSKO relay via ION Radio 6955 AM 2030 UTC 16 June 2025
« on: June 16, 2025, 2031 UTC »
After a weak start for the signal and the audio, it improved over the first two minutes up to S7-S9 as heard via the Fair Hill, Maryland, SDR ...

2030 UTC: After the carrier was on for a few minutes, music for the intro started right at 2030 UTC, then a welcome by host Paul Walker, who gave a pretty in-depth weather forecast for different parts of Alaska.
2034 UTC: "Canary in a Coalmine" by The Police.
2037 UTC: Paul read a PSA about litter, then "Montego Bay" by Bobby Bloom.
2040 UTC: "We Will Rock You" by Queen.
2042 UTC: "California Girls" by The Beach Boys.
2044 UTC: Paul back on the mic with KSKO ID, then reading local announcements for events around McGrath, Alaska.
2046 UTC: Paul asked a trivia question about what day KSKO signed on (July 1, 1981), then "Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard" by Paul Simon.
2050 UTC: Underwriting message for KSKO played, then "Modern Love" by David Bowie.
2054 UTC: "Israelites" by Desmond Dekker & The Aces.
2057 UTC: Paul mentioning the previous song, the time, and then giving a membership plea.
2058 UTC: "Friday On My Mind" by The Easybeats.
2100 UTC: Alaska Public Media news at the top of the hour.
2104 UTC: "Walk Away Renee" by the Four Tops.
2107 UTC: Paul with ID of previous song, time check, and asking for requests into "(Love is Like a) Heat Wave" by Martha Reeves & The Vandellas.
2110 UTC: Quick underwriting message, then "Honey Chile" by Martha Reeves & The Vandellas.
2113 UTC: "Mony Mony" by Tommy James & The Shondells.
2115 UTC: "Donna, The Prima Donna" by Dion DiMuci.
2118 UTC: Canned YL-voiced membership message, then "Build Me Up Buttercup" by The Foundations. The signal's down to about S5-S6 now as fading increases.
2122 UTC: Paul talking on the mic about when he started working at the station and shouting out the town's late mayor, Ralph Morgan, and the advice he gave.
2123 UTC: "Tears of a Clown" by The Miracles.
2126 UTC: Canned PSA for a crisis hotline, then "Judy in Disguise" by John Fred & His Playboy Band.
2130 UTC: Audio stopped right on schedule; the carrier went off at 2131 UTC.

Thanks for this KSKO relay!

2030 Paul's weather report, quite noisy here
2052 "Modern Love" David Bowie, still very noisy.  53 years ago today Bowie's "Spiders from Mars" was released
2054 "The Israelites" Desmond Dekker & The Aces, considered the first Raggae song
