Hey Thadood,
Ah yes, the Graveyard.
Not sure if you've noticed : If a station (especially in the Graveyard) that if a station is carrying a syndicated talk program they sometimes skip the station ID at the top of the hour. Apparently that extra 15 seconds of air time is too valuable to comply with FCC regs ( that don't seemed to be enforced anyway).
The online lists sometimes allow me to guess down to as low as two stations. But it's still a coin flip and can't be sure.
Things seem to go a good amount better with music stations (if you can find them). The chances of getting an ID are "better".
I have found that these fleas often don't propagate much more that 400 miles at night. And there is often more than one station rising up and down in QSB. So getting an ID for any one particular station can be a "challenge". There don't seem to be as many local commercials anymore to give "hints" either.
Now when I slide up there it is usually just a general propagation check to see how many are on frequency, how they are behaving etc.
If I get an Id , great.
But I don't count on it too much.
If there is music often I just "go with it" no matter how fluttery (etc) to try and recognize the song .
If it fades out, that's just the way it goes up there.
