Bulletin 2009-09

The Simulated Emergency Test (SET) is conducted each year usually in
the 4th quarter of the year and the is managed by the Section Manager
for their Section.  This year, some of the Sections within the Atlantic
Division have decided to join together for the SET.  Those Sections not
joining in the division-wide SET have made other plans for their SET.

Both Vice Director Abernethy and I strongly encourage interested
amateurs to contact their ARES Emergency Coordinator or their Section
Manager to find out when their Section's SET will take place if they
are interested in participating.

Each of the Sections have been working hard on their SET plans and they
are to be commended on their efforts.

I have received a request from the Sections involved in the
division-wide SET for some help in testing propogation this Sunday,
September 27th.  If you are available to help out, it would be
appreciated.

To test propagation throughout the Atlantic Division for the upcoming
Simulated Emergency Test on October 3, there will be nets run at the
following times and frequencies this Sunday afternoon, September 27.
Everyone is invited to check in for the test whether you will be
involved in the SET or not.

The information we're seeking is callsign, name, city, state, antenna,
power and signal report.  Feel free to try different antennas / radios
to see what kind of difference they make.

During the HF test there will be a coordination net on Echolink on the
WASH_DC Node 6154 server that is hosted by John Creel, WB3GXW.  Please
feel free to check in there if you wish.

If you do not have Echolink capability you can download the free
program from http//:www.echolink.org.
