Hey folks... we're still alive!
WWBR has been in a state of flux the past couple of years. Finally, I've been getting to somewhere near normal since the Long COVID crap that took over 4 years to reconcile. In the meantime, the station has been through hell. We've endured a lightning strike , two floods and a major remodel at the house, where the studio was originally located. The studios have been moved offsite to our transmitter site. Lots of gear needed resurrecting and repair. Some went to the great landfill and a few units were given to a broadcast museum (buh-bye prototype Optimod HF - hope you enjoy your new gig!).
The studios are now colocated at the TX and that brought a ton of RF issues that have had us tearing our hair out. Last night, I decided to gut the studio room out and completely start over. I had some "helpers" setting it up initially, evidently from the "down and dirty" school of Flashcut & Bandaids repair. This will take me a few days to get done, but it will be done correctly. These guys had no idea what 'polarity" means in balanced wiring. I became apparent it needed completely redone.
So, we're struggling to get the place back to normal, but it's making progress. On the plus side, we do now have a backup transmitter with it's own processing. The "office" still awaits reconstruction, so I really haven't had a chance to do any QSL cards.
Hoping we are back for good soon without the buzzes and zaps torturing your ears.
Regards,
Weedy Stakwako
