Transceiver Recommendations
« on: April 26, 2026, 0146 UTC »
First time poster, long time lurker. Love swl - all things HF - relaxing to homebrew broadcasts on usb etc. Recently built a 40 meter dipole, toying with setting up a homebrew station to run from a campsite launching some lines up in a tree to get the dipole to a proper height to do a program.

Did a fair amount of research and am struggling with piecing together a reliable setup that will provide good fidelity for spoken word and performed acts. Was thinking of grabbing an older HF transceiver on marketplace or ebay but am stuck on figuring out the best method for audio input.

'Preciate the help and ideas

You'll want a proper A.M. transmitter then.

If you could outline your requirments in more detail I may be able to help.

'It's better to give than receive' so why Rx when you can Tx!

Thought process is a xlr style mixer feeding a AM or USB transmitter / transceiver running 100 watts through a 1/4 wave dipole somewere between 6750 - 6975. Pretty open to any configuration of this - already have 150 ft of 400 lmr and a 40 meter dipole.
