HM01 update
« on: May 21, 2026, 0450 UTC »
Here’s some news on why HM01 was offline lately.

Current status
On August 23, 2024, shortly before the scheduled 22:00 transmission, the transmitter used regularly for HM01 suffered a catastrophic failure shortly after switching from 11635khz to 10715khz. This took the transmitter offline for good. Since then, and following a Radio Habana Cuba shortage of healthy transmitters, HM01 has been kept off the air, in favor of regular Radio Habana Cuba service.

As of May 2026, with ongoing repair efforts in Radio Habana Cuba's transmitters, more equipment is being brought back on the air. In addition, a few seconds of HM01 have been leaked as late as February 2026 in Radio Habana Cuba's broadcasts[1]. While it is not conclusive evidence, these two events indicate the possibility of a return of HM01 to regular operations at some point in the future.
