Hard to believe the Canadians are doing this, but after they pulled the plug on their Weather band stations I suppose anything is possible. Maybe the CBC is next to get its plug pulled.
An AM radio Boombox DXer.
+ GE SRIII, PR-D5 & TRF on MW.
The usual Realistic culprits on SW (and a Panasonic).

Appeals to Canadian nationalism are pretty compelling nowadays, but still it's hard to justify a separate Canadian version of WWV.
Big into SWDX late 70s through early 90s, then forgot about it and when I returned via SDRs it wasn't at all what I remembered, but I'll deal with it. Grumble, grumble. All SDRs acknowledged, nothing is from my own radio.

Ya maybe thats what they are thinking..

Does WWV make it into canada? I dont think very well if they do. Maybe WWVH hits western canada pretty good...

Oh yeah... WWV / WWVH / WWVB covers Canada as well as they covered Western New York, back when I lived up there. And BTW, this weekend 5/29/2026, Amateur Radio Newsline covers CHU.   https://www.arnewsline.org/
The best two statements of advice that I've ever gotten are from my brother-in-law in the early 1990's. 1st one, when I bought a used '89 Olds Cutless, my bro-in-law said, "Congratulations!!! You've just bought a deficit!". The other, was on a work environment, " No matter where you go, it's going to be f***'ed -up!". No truer words have been spoken.

What, like none of them at all ???  Guess that's what you said...

Well, that certainly opens up a log of internationally well-known frequencies
for pirate stations to potentially take over,
and tell us all the time----
or whatever you wish to tell us....

I remember once or twice having broadcasted on CHU frequencies,
after they had announced a temporary shutdown---
even had a show called 'Time' or something, although I think
it was only broadcast once.....

Hmmm, I think it still exists on outboard hard-drives...!

The exodus off of shortwave continues unabated, I guess.   Given the direction of the first world lately, I don't find this movement towards centralized telecom infrastructure to be all that wise but I'm just some jagoff I guess.

The movement towards centralized telecom infrastructure is exactly what the Powers That Be want.

It's just as well, since with the tariffs I could no longer afford to listen to CHU.

They should also offer a service where you send a self-addressed stamped envelope and they send back a cassette tape of the time signals.
