27255 kHz

27.250 MHz - 27.260 MHz

CB Radio channel 23 - CB CH23.  Shared with RCRS (Class C CB) - Part 95C FCC rules.  25 watt power limit, 8 kHz bandwidth limit, antenna gain is unlimited, antenna must be 60 feet or less above the ground or 20 feet or less above the highest point of the structure holding the antenna (whichever is less), any non-voice mode may be used.

Most data signals, including this nearly nonstop data stream (MFSK) signal...is roughly 4.5 kHz to 4.9 kHz wide.  Pager signal, or sounds like a paging signals also noted, bandwidth roughly 3.5 kHz, other signals closer to 6 kHz wide.  So that's 6K00F3D emission, 4K50F3D emission, 4K90F1D emission, 6K00F1D emission type, 3K50F2D, 3K50F1D emissions...lots and lots of data signals.

Yes, there are also AM voice signals on frequency.

I also wanted to note that the non stop or almost non stop MFSK signal that I usually hear on 27.195 MHz / 27195kHz is coming in (with everything else) on 27.255MHz / 27255kHz now.  27.195MHz is quiet (at least for now, at least on this receiver).

I hear this 24/7 on my SDRs. There are also three other similar ones that can be heard on that frequency when skip conditions allow.

Nice.  Yes, that is the one system that is local to your SDR, which was mixing in with all the other data signals on frequency.

Here's a video of your (the N1NTE) SDR starting around 1927 UTC yesterday 11/04/2026 (tuned to 27255 kHz / 27.255 MHz / CB radio channel 23)

Lots of interesting stuff on that frequency if you park on it for a while during skip conditions.

Absolutely.

27.195 MHz is another interesting one.  I've noticed a somewhat unique roughly 4 kHz - 4.5 kHz wide MFSK signal that appears on 27.195 during band openings, usually to Latin America...like clockwork.  Of course, there is plenty of voice traffic on 27.195 MHz (AM mode).  There is a taxi cab company somewhere in Mexico that uses that frequency, and I've heard plenty of American truck drivers, etc. using it.  I have actually talked to (local) stations in my area in FM mode on that frequency, along with 27.255 MHz (CB Channel 23) and 27.295 MHz (CB Channel 29).

In Europe it's an even crazier situation.  First off, there are pagers, telemetry, data link and data bursts on all of non-CB channels (26.995 MHz, 27.045 MHz, 27.095 MHz, 27.145 MHz and 27.195 MHz).   French speaking stations seem to like to use 26.995 MHz FM and 27.045 MHz FM for, well, voice comms.  27.140 MHz USB, 27.190 MHz USB and 27.195 MHz USB are all quite popular in Eastern Europe and Russia for SSB work.

I know at one point or another there was a beacon on 27.144 MHz or 27.145 MHz somewhere in France.  I have no idea if it is still on the air.

I managed to capture French speaking stations on 27.045 MHz (in FM mode) via the UK based G8JNJ SDR receiver back in the middle of August 2026 - August 13, 2026 to be exact.
